If keeping up with heating bills is difficult, help may be available. You can ask your utility company about a payment plan and contact an energy assistance program to learn about support for your household.
Minnesota’s Cold Weather Rule can help protect residential customers from electric or natural gas shutoffs that affect their heat from October 1 through April 30. Protection is not automatic.
If you have received a shutoff notice or your heat is already disconnected, contact your utility company right away. The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission can help with questions about your options.
