Your Interests Belong Here.
Something you already love. Something you’ve never tried. At LJA, scholars help shape opportunities to explore both. Clubs bring people together around shared interests, while J-Term gives the school day a fresh twist.
2026–27 School Year · Quarter 2
What happens when scholars share what they’re interested in? A lineup that makes room for coding and crafting, a school newspaper, and a game of volleyball.
Our Quarter 2 clubs grew out of scholar ideas. Explore a familiar interest or try something that makes you think, “I’ve always wanted to do that.”
LJA hopes to offer another round of clubs in Quarter 3. The lineup may change as new interests and ideas emerge. Contact us for schedules and information about joining.
January Learning, With a Twist
What if a school day included figuring out how to build a winter shelter or learning to work with wood? January at LJA makes room for a different kind of learning adventure.
J-Term, short for January Term, brings special learning experiences into the school day. Scholars explore interests while putting classroom skills to work in new ways.
These are examples from previous years, not a list of this January’s offerings. Each J-Term brings a new mix.
Minnesota winter becomes part of the lesson. Scholars have explored building emergency shelters and preparing winter survival kits, practicing practical skills through hands-on scenarios.
Measure, make, and try again. Past experiences with Urban Boatbuilders have introduced scholars to hands-on woodworking, where problem-solving takes shape in something you can hold.
There’s a whole world behind a performance. Scholars have explored acting, stage management, and set design, discovering how creative ideas and behind-the-scenes work come together.
A little yarn or thread can go a long way. Scholars have tried knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, and embroidery while exploring the history of these crafts and the possibilities of repairing instead of replacing.
The subjects may look different, but the thinking still matters. J-Term gives scholars new reasons to use what they know and discover what they want to learn next.
Contact LJA for club schedules, participation information, or questions about J-Term. We’re happy to help your family learn more.
