The Art of Cross Country Skiing $100*
Sign up for four fun filled days of cross country skiing and learn about an Olympic sport perfect for a Minnesota winter! Did you know that cross country skiing dates back to over 4,000 years ago and was the primary mode of transportation of Minnesota’s Scandinavian ancestors? Cross Country skiing is not only historic to MN and an Olympic sport, but is also said to be the best—and most fun aerobic fitness activity of all sports. The sport involves simultaneous use of arms and legs utilizing ski equipment including boots, poles, and skis.
Learn to ski with local instructors and explore local trails at the Theodore Wirth Chalet in Minneapolis. No experience or equipment required!
*Limited partial scholarships available
Art Expression $80*
Ever wonder how an artist decides on a title for their piece of art work? Are you dazzled by the way a digital camera works each time you see it flash? Do you dream of becoming the next great photographer for National Geographic? Do you love the feeling of your hands in cool, slippery, goopy clay and wonder how it transforms into strong but fragile pieces of pottery?
Well then this is the intersession for you! You will have opportunities to create, write, and reflect on all aspects of creating art. Craft pieces of unique and beautiful pottery, study the art of digital photography and then express your artistic angle through writing! This intersession you will not only learn how to build with clay or frame the shot of a great photo; but it will prepare you to describe and talk about your art. What is your inspiration? What does the piece say to you? What do you want it to say to others? How did you feel when constructing the piece?
